Indonesialainen ilta Entressen kirjastossa

30. maaliskuuta järjestimme Indonesialaisen Illan Entressen Kirjastossa, Espoon Keskuksessa, yhdessä kirjaston ja koulumme, Ammattikorkeakoulu Laurean, kanssa. Aloite ja ideat tapahtumaan ja tilaan tulivat yksittäiseltä indonesialaiselta naiselta, joka Entressen kirjaston työntekijän ja ELO – projektin koordinaattori Adwoan kautta otti yhteyttä Laureaan. Tapahtuma liitettiin siis meneillään olevaan ELO – projektiin, jonka kautta me opiskelijat tulimme mukaan tapahtuman suunnitteluun. Meidän tehtäväksi jäi toteuttaa indonesialainen moniaistillinen tila Indonesian Suurlähetystön sekä Yunitan indonesialaisten sukulaisten ja tuttujen avulla, sekä heiltä saaduilla perinne-esineillä, kuten soittimilla ja asusteilla.
Laitoimme tapahtumaa varten kaiken pystyyn edellisenä päivänä. Meillä oli paljon tehtävää: tuolien järjestäminen lavan eteen, kylttien ja julisteiden tekoa ja niiden laittamista ympäri kirjastoa, sekä moniaistillisen tilan järjestelyä ja koristelua. Saimme käyttöömme paljon erilaisia esineitä Indonesian Suurlähetystöltä, joista täytyi pitää huolta, etteivät ne rikkoutuisi. Meidän täytyi siis miettiä paljon, että mihin laitamme mitäkin. Me toimme myös joitakin esineitä koulultamme. Meidän täytyi jatkaa tapahtuman pystyttämistä vielä juuri ennen itse Iltaa, sillä meillä oli niin paljon tehtävää ja mietittävää. Onneksi saimme kaiken valmiiksi ajoissa, ja saimme tapahtuman alkamaan!
Tapahtuma sisälsi paljon indonesialaista kulttuuria. Erilaisia perinteisiä ruokia sai maistella, sekä vaatteita oli mahdollisuus kokeilla. Muutama ryhmä esitti perinteisiä indonesialaisia tansseja, joita etenkin lapset rakastivat! Myös illan muu ohjelma onnistui hyvin: yleisö sai osallistua indonesialaisten soitinten soittamiseen sekä tietovisaan.
Oli mukava huomata, että julisteet houkuttelivat paikalle paljon muitakin ihmisiä, kuin vain indonesialaisia!

Indonesialainen moniaistillinen tila sisälsi monia perinteisiä esineitä ja soittimia, Indonesiasta kertovan videon, ja joitakin perinteisiä vaatteita. Tilassa oli jotain jokaiselle aistille: jotain mitä koskettaa, nähdä, kuulla ja haistaa. Indonesialaisen Illan aikana oli tarjolla perinteisiä ruokia, jotka olivat makuaistille tarkoitettu. Valitettavasti ei ollut mahdollista pitää ruokia esillä joka päivä ja koko päivän. Mutta kaikki muut aistit oli huomioitu tilassa, joka oli avoinna koko huhtikuun ajan.
Meille opiskelijoille tämä indonesialainen tila oli ensimmäinen, jonka järjestämisessä olimme mukana. Saimme paljon tieto-taitoa tilan pystyttämisestä, sekä itsekin uutta tietoa Indonesiasta. Oli mukavaa huomata, kuinka muutkin yksittäiset ihmiset sekä erilaiset yritykset kiinnostuivat ja innostuivat moniaistillisen tilan käytöstä. Tämä oli myös ensimmäinen kuulemamme tila, jonka aloite tuli yksityishenkilöltä itseltään, josta muut ihmiset innostuivat ja liittyivät mukaan. Isompien tahojen sijaan, tila tehtiin siis ihmisiltä ihmisille.

Indonesian Evening at Entresse Library
30th of March we arranged an Indonesian Evening at Entresse Library, Espoon Keskus, together with the library and our school, Laurea university of Applied Sciences. Suggestion and ideas abou the event and the space came from a single indonesian woman, Yunita, who then contacted Laurea via Brewu Adwoa, a library worker in Entresse and the coordinator of the ELO – project. The event was so linked to the ongoing ELO – project, and then forwarded to us students. We were to create an Indonesian multisensory space with the help of the Indonesian Embassy and the relatives and friends of Yunita. We created and decorated the space with traditional instruments, clothes and accessories, and artifacts borrowed from the people working with us.
We set up the event the day before the actual happening. We had a lot to do: arranging the chairs in front of the stage, making signs and posters and putting them up around the library, and decorating the multisensory room. We had a lot of different artifacts from the Embassy of Indonesia that needed to be safeguarded not to break, so we had to think a lot where to put which things. Some items were also brought from our school by us. We had to continue the setting up of the Evening right before it, since we had so much to do. Fortunately, we managed to finish everything on time, and got the Evening rolling!
We had a lot of Indonesian culture within the event. There were different kinds of traditional foods to taste and traditional clothes to try on. Also, a few groups were performing some traditional dances from Indonesia, which especially children loved! The program during the evening was very successful: there were playing Indonesian instruments and a quiz that the audience were able to participate.It was nice to notice that the posters were inviting a lot of other people too that just Indonesian people! Even the Ambassador if Indonesian herself was visiting our event!
The Indonesian multisensory room included many traditional artifacts, a video about Indonesia, and some traditional clothes. There was something for each sense: something to touch, to see, to hear, and to smell. During the Indonesian Evening we also had the traditional foods there, which were for the sense of taste. Unfortunately, it was not able to have the foods there every day and all day long. But every other sense was noticed in the spaces, which was open for the whole month of April.
For us students, this Indonesian multisensory space was the very first one that we got to participate. We got a lot of new know-how about building up a multisensory space, and also some new info about Indonesia ourselves, too. It was nice to notice how other single people and also different companies got interested and excited about using a multisensory space. Also, this was the first space we have heard of that a private person wanted to build, and that other people got then excited and joined. So instead of bigger organizations, this space was built from people to people.
